TrueCount ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website at truecount.gg. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

What Data We Collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information: Email address (required for sign-in) and name (optional, if provided via Google OAuth).
- Subscription and payment data: Managed entirely by Stripe. We store your subscription status and Stripe customer ID but never see or store your full credit card number.
- Training session data: Your blackjack training results, including hands played, strategy decisions, counting accuracy, and session timestamps.
- Accuracy tracking data: Per-hand accuracy records used to generate your personal strategy heatmap and progress charts.
- Usage analytics: Page views, feature usage, and performance data collected via PostHog.
- Error reports: Crash and error data collected via Sentry to help us fix bugs.
How We Use Your Data
- To provide and improve the TrueCount training experience.
- To track your progress and generate accuracy statistics.
- To process payments and manage your subscription.
- To send transactional emails (sign-in links, receipts).
- To analyze how the app is used so we can make it better.
- To diagnose and fix errors and performance issues.
We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services:
- Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe handles all credit card data under their own privacy policy.
- PostHog — Product analytics. Collects anonymized usage data to help us understand how people use TrueCount. Only initialized if you accept cookies.
- Sentry — Error monitoring. Captures error reports and stack traces when something goes wrong so we can fix it.
- Resend — Transactional email delivery (sign-in magic links).
Cookies and Local Storage
We use the following:
NextAuth session cookies for authentication. These are required for sign-in to work and cannot be disabled.
PostHog sets cookies to track anonymous usage data. These are only set if you accept analytics cookies via our consent banner.
We use your browser's localStorage for: course progress, daily hand count, game state, chart overlay preferences, and cookie consent preferences. This data stays on your device and is never sent to our servers.
Data Retention
We retain your account and training data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymized, aggregated analytics data may be retained indefinitely.
Your Rights (GDPR and Others)
Regardless of where you are located, you have the following rights:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
- Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate data.
- Deletion: Ask us to delete your account and personal data.
- Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format.
- Objection: Object to processing of your data for analytics purposes.
- Withdraw consent: You can withdraw cookie consent at any time by clearing your browser's localStorage for truecount.gg.

Children's Privacy
TrueCount is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting a notice on the site. Your continued use of TrueCount after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
